Election Campaigns

AntikBar's latest blog post

As the UK gears up to the 2015 Election, we look back at a few past election campaign posters and ephemera – truly a sign of the times:

1900s
These three posters were published by the National Union of Conservative and Constitutional Associations (NUCCA; 1868-1911), in the lead up to the 1910 UK General Election.

1928
Published by the American cultural left, this issue of New Masses features a constructivist style photomontage in the lead up to the 1928 US Presidential Election that asks: “What’s it all about?”

1929
Entitled “Volksbergehr” (People’s Desire), this poster was published for the 1929 German Referendum and features Adolf Hitler (1889-1945; leader of the Nazi Party), Alfred Hugenberg (1865-1951; leader of the DNVP German National People’s Party) and Franz Seldte (1882-1947; founder of the Stahlhelm Party).
