Africa Cruise Royal Mail Atlantis
Original vintage cruise ship travel poster advertising Royal Mail Atlantis Winter Cruise round Africa January 1938. Colourful image featuring two African men wearing traditional clothing and feather headdress, holding shields and spear with huts in the background and a map in the sky with stylised text in the foreground and below. Artwork by the British poster designer, Percy Padden (1886-1965). Royal Mail Lines (1932-1965) was a leading cruise ship operator created to take over The Royal Mail Steam Packet Company (founded 1839); in 1965 it was taken over by a British transport operator, Furness Withy & Company (1891-1980). Very good condition, restored tear.
